A Budding Rose
My 30th birthday is fast approaching.  Many consider the age 30 as some type of marker.   They look at what they have done in the past 30 years and wonder if they have acheived everything they could have, etc etc.  Turning 30 doesn't bother me, I'm very excited and Bruce has known for several months that I  expect a PARTY!  :-)  I am not at all disappointed with my life.  I have been happily married for 8 years, and we have three wonderful children.  Except for the usual, I would like to weigh less and be closer to God than I am, I am very pleased with my life.

Except.......
Why does it seem that almost everybody has a better idea of how to be me than I do?  I am told how to raise my children, what to let them watch, where to go to church, what to think!  At the age of 30, why do others still treat me like a small child who is incapable of making my own choices?  And then get mad at me when I tell them to back off?!

I told a friend last night that I feel there is "the real Karla" trying to pop through but nobody is interested in meeting her, but watch out!  She's coming and taking prisoners!

This morning while I was praying about this all, God showed me a yellow rose.  Still a bud, trying to bloom.  People are looking at the rose, some admiring the beauty, most just don't like what they see,(wrong color, wrong size, wrong, wrong! wrong!) so they take their own pruning shears and try to cut off the rose.  For some reason they just do not want that rose to bloom.

But see, God has made that rose a thing of beauty that He wants to show off and He will not let anybody hurt it.  They may try, and unfortunately leave cut marks in the stem.  God has put an amazing strength into that stem, people are still cutting away and mad because they are getting nowhere!  God has determined that this particular rose is going to bloom, no matter what people think of it!  He loves it and thinks it is the most beautiful in His garden.

My friends, you are a beautiful rose in God's garden.  Don't ever forget it!   He loves you so very much!  You are the one and only rose He is wearing on His
lapel!
