HOLDING HANDS
Sometimes you just need to thank God for children. He can use them to teach you so much. Today I got two great lessons in being childlike or childish.
While out driving today, God brought to my remembrance an incident about 4 years ago. Ariel was about 3 years old. Indianapolis was just hit by an ice storm. The roads were a mess, but for some reason I had to go to the post office. As we were heading to the car after leaving the Post Office, I told Ariel to hold my hand so that she wouldn't fall. She grabbed my hand and looked up at me and said "Mommy, if I'm holding your hand, I won't fall." Such a childlike innocence and trust. She knew that everything would be OK, because she was holding my hand. Her steps were sure and she wouldn't fall. How I need to be like that with God! Even though my steps are unsure, I just need to take His hand and say, "Daddy, I'm holding Your hand, so I won't fall."
On the other end, today while leaving a store I tried to grab Elijah's hand (he's almost 3) and he told me "I hold my own hand myself". So out the door we headed, and sure enough, he was holding his own hand! He had his hands clasped together all the way out to the car. Go ahead and laugh, I am. I have to admit, that sometimes I do that with God. He reaches out to help, and I refuse it. I can do it myself!
I need to learn to hold His hand more often.
