STOLEN OR GIVEN AWAY?
What does satan steal and what do we give him?

We all know that satan has come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).  I also think these things can be progressive:

I believe that satan can only steal through circumstances beyond our control:  rape (loss of innocence), murder (loss of life and loved one), abuse, among other things.

If these things happen they may  kill our trust in others, kill our self-worth, kill our love for others. . .

Leading up to:  bitterness, anger, addictions, unforgiveness. . . suicide. . . in other words:  DESTRUCTION of SELF!

Those things said, I want to now say that I don't believe that satan can steal our hope, our joy, our peace, our faithfulness, our love, our patience, our kindness, our goodness, our gentleness or our self-control.

Notice something here?  These are not circumstances, they are the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23 (with the exception of hope.).

Because satan is a liar (John 8:44b) he may have us convinced he can steal the fruits of the Spirit, but the truth is he only asks and we give them away!

When you run out of money before you run out of month, do you worry and fret or are you at peace knowing God will provide (Jehovah Jireh)?

The choice is yours!

When your three year old spills red kool-aid on your white church clothes ten minutes before time to leave how do you react?  Do you scream at her for being clumsy and to be more careful while reaching for the paper towels to wipe up the mess?  Or are there hugs and kind words about it being an accident?

The choice is yours!

And how about when you go to the shortest check out lane at the store and the person in front of you needs multiple price checks, pays in coins. . .
Are you a patient waiter striking up polite conversation with others?  Or are you sighing loudly?  tapping your foot?  Making your displeaser known?

The choice is yours!

You are giving things to satan when you aren't living out the fruits of the Spirit or walking in Love.

Please read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.  Do you notice that many of the fruits of the Spirit also describe Love?
